Yes, the lens may be too heavy for some and out of budget for others, but 135mm 1.8 is a lens that produces truly amazing results. It’s a joy when we can talk to all Full Frame Mirrorless photographers and make them happy! The 135mm 1.8 is a lens that is worthy of most every camera kit.

On a recent Creative Photo Academy Walkabout I had the pleasure of shooting Canon R5 Mark II and the RF 135mm F/1.8 L. My focus for the afternoon was details of people and portraits. The 135mm 1.8 was ideal. The photos boast an amazing quality and look and feel. Superb sharpness yet this unspeakably beautiful aesthetic. The longer focal length and wide aperture captures pictures that are really different. Photographing people at 135mm provides a very comfortable working distance where the camera is not right in their face! I ran my camera in manual mode, 1/1000 f 1.8 iso 400 with face/eye detect focus yielded great images.

135mm 1.8 is not just for portraits…. It’s an awesome botanical lens! Photographing In our garden recently with the Sony A7R V and the FE 135mm F/1.8 GM was a great joy. The qualities of the lens that make it fantastic for portraits also records flowers and plants with incredible beauty. Using the narrow field of view and even shallower focus produces award winning results. The Sony worked for me in Aperture Priority at f 1.8, ISO 400 and shutter ~1/1000 captured the ideal picture.
