The Right Travel Kit

Walking the streets of an exotic foreign city, touring a famous landmark or climbing a trail to a beautiful waterfall, great photos are the goal for travelers. Pictures…saving the memories, capturing contest-winners and neighborhood bragging-rights, can make your travels more fun! Everyone is asking “what’s the best travel kit.”

The answer is the camera and lens combo that tells your story and captures your moments and makes you smile! Some folks will only travel with a phone to be super compact….but often that yields disappointing pictures. Some will grab their current camera with an “all-in-one” lens that offer versatility but is challenged in many situations. Others will pack their “big camera” and all the lenses so they won’t miss any pictures but that can lead to sore shoulders and frustrated travel partners.

The right answer for me, and many of our Creative Photo Academy students, is a compact full-frame mirrorless camera with a versatile “walkin’ around lens” over the shoulder in a compact and travel-able kit. Canon photographers might choose the compact R8 or R5 camera with the 24-105mm 4 L lens. Sony lovers like the a7cii or a7cR with the 24-105mm 4.Nikon fans find the Z5II, ZF or Z6III and the 24-120mm 4s ideal. These kits feature a FAST lens capable of indoor and low-light capture, excellent image quality and relatively small size.

The 24mm to ~100mm zoom range will capture great scenery and vistas, interiors and architecture using wide-angle.100 to 120mm telephoto is ideal for portrait and people, street photography, details and capturing distant mountains and scenic beauty.A FAST F4 aperture capture enough light for interiors and night-street scenes without a flash.

Today’s full-frame mirrorless cameras are fun and easy to use with fast auto focus utilizing AI technology and subject tracking for amazing pictures. You can choose simple automatic operation or fully manual picture taking to satisfy your desires. Coupled with a FAST lens and the camera’s fantastic high-ISO performance makes picture taking simple under almost any light conditions.

A new mirrorless camera makes your travel photos easier, your kit smaller and more fun than ever before with cameras costing $1000 to $2000.A great “walkin’ around Lens” takes an investment of ~$1000 putting it in the budget of most travelers.
