Is it Prime Time?
A PRIME Lens is an opportunity for creativity. A Prime Lens gives photographers a choice of background focus. A Prime Lens can capture the clearest photos you have ever made!
What is a prime lens? A lens that has a fixed focal length (does not zoom) Why are prime lenses so popular today?
1.) Picture Quality. A prime lens is a simple optical formulae that's easy to produce high resolution photos.
2.) Size & Weight. The simple design of a prime lens makes them the ideal choice for a compact walk-around kit. Primes are wonderfully pocket sized and fun to use!
3.) FAST! Prime lenses have a wide aperture allowing for amazing low-light photography. Opening to f/1.2, 1.4, 1.8 or 2 will allow you capture those magic moments in the beauty of natural light.
4.) Soft Background. Using a wide aperture provides that amazing blurry background look. Having a FAST lens allows you to create that creamy photo we love so much.
Which Prime Lens?
For most of us, a "normal" prime is a great choice, and usually our first choice when buying our first prime lens. 35mm & 50mm are the go-to normal primes that are both fantastic walk around lenses.
Scenic, Interior & Astro Photographers will love the look of an Ultrawide Lens like a 20mm or 24mm.
Portrait Photographers will appreciate the beauty of an 85mm or 100mm prime lens.
To keep your prime small and affordable, consider the f/1.8 or f/2.0 versions of the lens. For ultimate low light ability and shallow focus the f/1.4 or f/1.2 option is best
Adding a prime lens to your bag will improve your photo skills. It will challenge you to be creative and provide you with more shooting opportunities.
