Jane is a Paul’s Photo customer and Creative Photo Academy student. She has found a passion in photographing nature and wildlife locally here in Southern California and in her travels. Jane chose the Sony a1 for her pictures to capture the fast action with crisp detail. Jane is joining us on Safari in Africa July 2022.

Local Wildlife in Torrance

Hours after I picked up my new Sony A1 at Paul’s Photo, I was able to see this baby owl high up in this tree as the sun was going down. Low light? No problem! Using the Sony FE 200-600 mm f/5.6-6.3 zoom lens, I was able to take this image (ISO 6400, 600 mm and cropped in post, 1/160 sec at f/6.3) using manual focus to see the owl and not the pine needles in front of it.

How does the A1 do with birds in flight?

Amazingly! I’m new to taking photos of birds and need lots of practice but using the real-time Eye Auto-Focus Bird Mode and Tracking Expand Spot at 30 frames per second, my chances were much improved (see below).

On vacation in Alaska

The Sony A1 was recommended to capture sports, wildlife and travel. In my recent trip to Alaska, I was able to use this camera to capture wildlife at sea and on land and beautiful scenery.
