Q. What is the turnaround time for internet orders?

A. Orders placed before 3:00pst will be ready at Paul's Photo after 3:00 the next afternoon for single size and finish orders.

Q. How do I upload images?

A. Follow the easy step-by-step instructions on the upload page.

Q. The upload page asks to install an "Active-X" application, what's that?

A. Windows users on Internet Explorer are asked to install an "Active-X" program from Graphix Inc. This is a helper application designed to make uploading easier. It is completely safe to install and use.

Q. What format should my files be?

A. Jpeg.

Q. What quality setting should by camera be on?

A. We always recommend you shoot your images at the highest quality JPG your camera allows. You can always reduce the size of the file (to a copy), if you only want to print 4x6 photos this time (thereby reducing the upload time as well). If, in the future, you want to print an 8x10 or even larger, the small file will not give satisfactory results.

Q. How do I know if my files are big enough?

A. After you upload a symbol (happy face or sad face) will appear to the right of the file name. Hover your mouse over the symbol for the answer.

Q. Are my images cropped?

A. Most point-and-shoot digital cameras shoot a format not the same aspect ratio as a conventional 4x6 print (close to a 4x5 inch print). Consequently, a small amount of the top and bottom of your image will be cropped (horizontal). If you require full frame, please put a note in the special instructions area for full frame-no cropping. You will receive 4x6 prints with white borders on either side of your image. Most newer Digital SLR cameras shoot the same aspect ratio as a 4x6 print.

Q. Do you offer white borders?

A. Yes, white borders are offered on 4x6 prints at no additional charge.

Q. What technology does our lab use to print?

A. Our lab uses state-of-the art digital Noritsu and Fuji printers. The silver halide photographic paper is exposed by red, blue and green lasers, then processed through conventional photographic chemicals, just like prints from film cameras.

Q. How long will my prints last?

A. Your prints will last several decades before noticeable fading occurs under normal conditions. Unlike home ink-jet printers, our photo lab prints are just like the prints you receive from film cameras.
