 Choosing your Photo Films

The Choice is Yours.

No other topic in photography sparks a more spirited debate than the choice of film. Which emulsion is the best? Which film is right for you? Kodak, and Fuji produce professional and amateur color films. Professional Film is manufactured to the strictest tolerances, individually batch tested, and refrigerated for freshness. Pro films feature finer grain, highly accurate color saturation, and tight color match from batch-to-batch. Amateur films are made for

Low Speed (ISO 25-100) films are designed for the photographer desiring extremely high resolution images under bright sunshine. Wildlife, landscape and nature photographers shoot Fuji Velvia 100 Kodak 100vs or Kodak E100GX films because of their high color saturation, and superior image quality.

Medium Speed (ISO 200-400) films are truly for general purpose photography. Shoot under bright sunlight or late into twilight with 400 speed film. Travelers, naturalists, family snapshooters and sports photographers choose Fuji NPH and Kodak 400UC. Today's ISO 400 films are superb for all applications

High Speed (ISO 800-1600) films are designed for shooting under low-level ambient illumination. Sports and journalistic photographers love to shoot Fuji Super G 800 and the SHG 1600 Press.

As a photographer you must select the "color pallette" of your film.

Portrait films like Kodak Portra, Fuji NPS, Fuji Astia boast wonderful flesh tones and silky smooth details. Portrait films reduce facial blemishes and enhance facial color. Portrait films see and record the subtle nuances of the subject and pastel colors.

Natural Color films are appropriate when absolute color accuracy is needed for product or art reproduction. Kodak EPN and Fuji Reala accurately reproduce the color of the scene.

Today's outdoor photographers are demanding Saturated Color. Redder reds, bluer blues and greener greens are the mark of Fuji Provia 100, Kodak E100VS and Kodak's 100UC or 400UC print films. Saturated color films boost the color and the contrast of the scene. Use a high color film when your taste demands more color than nature presents.

Explore the world of today's color films. You may select the speed, color, and contrast of the emulsion to match your vision. Paul's Photo is happy to assist you in selecting a right film for your next photo adventure, vacation or assignment.

Pro quality results from today's film require pro quality film processing. Choose your film, and your film processing carefully to achieve the ultimate image quality.
